Greetings to all Green Howards past and present. Welcome to the site. My details are as follows:- I enlisted march 1958 - Trained at Richmond Army number - 23546124 - Training platoon - Tirah Platoon (first all regular platoon!) - Training Officer, Lt Kibble (and Zilla the dog) Training Sgt, Sgt (Tug) Wilson - Training Cpls - Cpl Ted Hodgetts, Cpl Brian Adams & L/Cpl Watson. I joined The 1st Battalion, Support Company, 3" Mortar Platoon - Sept 1958 at Stanley Fort, Hong Kong. The CO was Col W K Pryke MBE - RSM was 'The dreaded' RSM Calvert. Most of my army service I served with 3" Mortar Platoon, initially in Support Company, Hong Kong; then in B Company, Germany, Tripoli, Cyprus then back to Hong Kong. I was Demobbed - 6th March 1967 ---- I started this site in September 2001, initially as a means of storing my own army photos. Shortly after Charlie Charlton spotted my photos on the web and contacted me, with a request to include his photos along with mine. More photos and contacts soon followed and gradually the site evolved into what it is today. I hope you enjoy the site Ray Gascoyne |
